Meet the Alpha Stamps Design Team Blog Hop

June 7, 2012

As you know, I was absolutely jazzed to be selected to be on the Alpha Stamps Design Team. I was super nervous at first, and still am, and in awe of my fellow design team members because they’re amazing, but–I am thrilled to be one of them. Alpha Stamps has such wonderful products and the design team is so talented and I just can’t wait to see what I learn from all of them.

Right now we’re all atwitter with the news of the Birds in Hats Swap AND Sale. The artwork I’ve highlighted in this post was created using new Collage Sheets made for the Birds in Hats Swap at Alpha Stamps! (Click the graphic below for more information on the swap.)

My favorite aspect of being a Design Team Member is the chance to explore themes and mediums that I might not normally use. I also enjoy seeing how all of us create something different with the same supplies. I created three projects from the last design team kit: a three-dimensional bird using the 4×4 coasters, a bird house and a collage box called Something to Crow About.

The first project I completed was the bird made from coasters.

I used the brand new Finches Collage Sheet, a wooden spool, the music note twill ribbon, a silk ribbon, moss and some furry fibers. It took a LOT of hot glue to get his wings to stay.

I also created a three-dimensional bird house using the Chipboard Birdhouse Shapes, several of the new collage sheets (so much to be inspired by), glass bottles, paper flowers and more! This birdhouse sits on a glass “nest” with a big rhinestone as his “egg.”

My last bird-inspired project is a collage box called Something to Crow About. I used the NEW Chunky Book Box, the Bird Words Collage Sheet, the Flora and Fauna Die Cut Borders (which are perfect for so many projects) and a whole “nest egg” of other items. It’s hard for me to think about what  I used because I generally don’t start a project with a plan: I sit down with all sorts of goodies and sparkles and some glue and just go where the mood takes me. I usually have an idea in my head but just as often as not, the end result is a surprise to me.

Since it’s summer and I’m inspired by the siren song of the sea; one commenter will WIN this tiny mermaid shrine that I created as an audition piece for the Design Team. To enter, all you have to do is comment below! The winner will be announced on June 11 so be sure to check in to see if you’ve won!

Please fly on over to check out the blogs of my fellow Design Team members: I PROMISE you’ll be glad you did! Head to the Alpha Stamps Blog Post  for links to ALL the other Design Team members.
